Rejecting records in the Billable Log

Just a reminder SY is now 20-21 so new students will have been added and old students are gone. SVM billable logs are affected by this – meaning you are seeing new students old billing which the previous school should handle. Clarification of the Memo on “Transfer of Interstate or Department of Defense Students with Disabilities into the Hawaii State Department of Education” dated November 27, 2019

There have been questions regarding a memo we released last November. Special Education Office would like to make a clarification for FAQ #3. The memo states: 3. What is the process to determine comparable services? 1. The new HIDOE school shall schedule a meeting within five school days with at least the following members present:a. Administrator/administrative designee;b. Parent(s)/legal guardian(s); andc. Special education teacher to gather information, and determine comparable services. Clarification:The meeting must be held within five school days upon enrolling in the new school.

UPDATE: eCSSS Sandbox Refresh Process Completed

eCSSS Sandbox is refreshed annually to provide current anonymized data (e.g. SB scores, enrollments, etc.). Any previous inputted data or training scenarios have been removed.Users can begin inputting data and training scenarios for SY 2020-21 on July 7, 2020.

Annual FAPE Letter Process for SY 19-20

The Hawaii State Department of Education schools, including public charter schools, will mail the annual free appropriated public education (FAPE) letter to parents of students who are on your school’s eCSSS Declined FAPE Students report.  The annual free appropriate public education (FAPE) letter to parent(s)/legal guardian(s) of students and adult students who exited the public schools, not including out-of-state transfers, consistent with 34 Code of Federal Regulations §300.101(a), must be offered annually.
